Crafty Cork Board

Materials That You Will Need:

1 square piece of cork board  or  2 rectangular pieces of cork board
Dark brown spray paint (I used Krylon's Equestrian Indoor/Outdoor Gloss Spray Paint)
Beige spray paint (I used Krylon's Khaki Indoor/Outdoor Gloss Spray Paint)
Scissors
Green acrylic paint ( I used DecoArt Leaf Green)
White acrylic paint (I used DecoArt Light Antique White)
Orange acrylic paint ( I used DecoArt Pure Pumpkin)
Neon pink acrylic paint (I used Color-Factory Neon Pink)
Red acrylic paint (I used DecoArt Deep Red)
Yellow acrylic paint (I used DecoArt Daffodil Yellow)

Quick Tips:

Go to the Dollar Store!  That's where I got most of the materials for this craft!

If you have one square of cork board, cut it into two halves. Place them next to each other in a clean area outside, or on some newspaper indoors.  Spray paint the top halves beige.  Now, With the dark brown spray paint, create a gradient starting at the bottom.  Start by applying a thick layer until the half way point, then start to gradually move farther and farther away, so that the paint applies thinner.

With green acrylic paint, paint blades of grass along the bottom.  Feel free to add your own style to the grass' shape and length.

Decide where you want your sun to be.  Paint the outline in yellow acrylic paint.

With some orange acrylic paint, create another gradient, but this time, on the sun.  Make the colour more vibrant on one side, and gradually get lighter, until you reach the other side, where it should stay yellow.

With the red, neon pink, yellow, white, and orange acrylic paints, create a design to create the sunset-like rays of the sun.

Re-paint the blades of grass that you have covered while painting the sun.  Then, add some white to the grass.  To do this, I simply put some white paint on the tip of my brush, and, starting at the bottom, went over the blade of grass.  Now you're done!

Bubbly Cranes

Materials That You Will Need:

Blowing bubbles
Bubble wand
Food colouring
Plastic Cups
White printer paper
Sharpie

Quick Tips:

The paper is very fragile after you have covered it with bubbles.  This may take a couple tries, so be patient!

1.  Fill half of a plastic cup with blowing bubbles.  Put 3 drops of food colouring into the bubbles, mix with bubble wand.  Do the same thing with as many colours as you would like.

2.  Just have fun!  Experiment with different ways to colour the paper with bubbles.  Blow coloured bubbles at the paper, and let them pop.  Dip the paper in the bubbles.  Pour, drip, splatter, and flick, and these are only some ways to colour the paper.

3.  Once you have coloured the paper with the bubbles, let them dry completely.

4.  Got to http://www.en.origami-club.com/rectangular/crane/crane/index.html, and follow the instructions on how to fold the paper crane.  You can also just leave the paper as is, and use it to write on.

5.  Once you have folded a magnificent crane, draw a symbol on the front with a Sharpie.

Screwy Snowflakes

Materials That You Will Need:

Metal wheels/Circular metal objects
Screws of all shapes and sizes
Hot glue and Glue gun

Quick Tips:

Go to IKEA in their "AS IS" section.  There should be a box of spare screws.  Next to the box you can find some small plastic bags with a 1$ sticker on it.  If you fill that bag with screws, you only have to pay 1 dollar!!

The hot glue dries very fast on the metal because of the natural process of conduction. work fast!

Because of the coating on the screws, and simply because they are made of metal, the hot glue doesn't stay on very well.  It will last as long as you aren't constantly fidgeting with it, so keep the snowflakes in a high up, safe place.

1.  Start by hot glueing a very long screw in the middle of one of the metal wheels.  This will serve as the support/stand.

2.  Come up with a design for the "arms" of the snowflake.  Here are two of mine:

For this snowflake design, start by glueing on screws to the circumference of the metal wheel.  I glued mine by gluing four longer ones on the top and sides, and in between those longer ones, I glued some shorter screws.  Then, to accomplish the look, simply glue on 3 small screws onto the sides of the previously glued screws.  Make sure that they are placed as the teeth of a gear is placed (so that they fit in between each other).

This snowflake is a bit simpler.   I glued one smaller screw on the opposite side of the stand, so that it sticks horizontally out of the middle.  Then, I glued 8 "arms" onto the circumference of the metal wheel, in the same idea of the previous snowflake.  Then, I just glued on two small screws onto the tips of the screws to form a "V".
